Alfonso Ribeiro has high hopes for this celebrity to join Dancing With the Stars ... if only he can convince them to do so!
The ABC host was on hand to talk about the series' upcoming season 34 when he made an appearance on Good Morning America on May 13. As Alfonso sat with Michael Strahan, Robin Roberts and Lara Spencer, there was implication that the GMA cast would love to see Michael put on some dancing shoes and hit the ballroom dance floor. As it turned out, Alfonso was all for this suggestion of a celebrity participant — and he had to put Michael on the spot about it.
"Listen, listen — I think if there was a guy, you know, I think if he played for the Giants at one point in life ... because you know he'd bring the whole New York audience!" he joked in a clip posted on Instagram. "Come on, Strahan! We need you, buddy! We'll get you a tall dancer to dance with so it won't look so awkward!"
"You know what I love about Dancing With the Stars?" Michael replied back. "When they come here and I just get to interview them. I don't have to dance. That's the best part ... My joints are too old and brittle!"
When Alfonso pointed out that Michael is already out in Los Angeles (where Dancing With the Stars films) on the weekends to co-host Fox NFL Sunday every weekend, the former NFL star voiced his true concerns about potentially being on DWTS.
"Here's the thing, this is what scares me," Michael added. "Every professional football player and athlete who's been on the show said it was the hardest thing they've ever done. If it was harder than football was for me, I cannot fathom it at this point in my life."
Despite Michael's reservations, fans voiced how excited they'd be if Michael were to be a contestant on Dancing With the Stars.
"If Strahan is on, I’m watching!" one person shouted in the comments. "Strahan! My dad would actually kinda watch then 😂," another declared. "I think all the GMA hosts should compete against each other," a different follower suggested.
Now, as some fans may remember, Michael actually has been on Dancing With the Stars in a different role. He was a guest judge on the show back in Season 32 in October 2023, when he participated as a critic for the show's Motown night. So, if he does ever decide to join the show, at least he'll know how the judging goes!
