Perfume is polarising, so when a group of beauty editors – all of whom have very different tastes – enjoy the same one, it's a sign of something a bit special.
And the £62 scent in question belongs not to a fancy fragrance house, but to the beauty brand Glossier. Their aesthetic (clean, minimal, uncomplicated) is perfectly captured in the cult favourite scent You, which – just when we thought it couldn't get any better – is newly available in a pocket-perfect, handbag-perfect, generally perfect 8ml travel size.
What's so special about this perfume? Quite a bit, as it happens. As fragrances go, it's quiet – sparkly fresh, luminously clean, with creamy, skin-like musk (ambroxan) at its heart. But this quietness is its magic, because it's somehow completely familiar even if you haven't smelt it before... as if it's the smell of you, only better (see what they did there?).
It's this that makes You the perfect everyday fragrance. In fact, it melds so easily with skin's natural scent that one of the GH beauty editors sometimes uses it as a base on top of which she'll spray another, complementing fragrance (Jo Malone Peony & Blush Suede Cologne brings a lovely floral flourish to You). Perfect for when you don't want to drift too far from your signature scent, but at the same time fancy mixing it up.
It's also a bit of a dressing table feature: the pink bottle, complete with a thumb-print indentation (because the scent is just for 'you', of course), looks particularly chic. For £62, this fragrance looks – and feels – far more expensive than it actually is.
