Are you looking forward to the blissful four-day, bank holiday Easter weekend; filled with long spring walks, roast lamb lunches and indulging in chocolate eggs? All delicious things, until... the hot cross buns are brought out and you're faced with having to eat a spiced bun, crammed full of dried fruit and candied peel.
Well, if the mere thought of a traditional hot cross bun fills you with dread and ruins your otherwise harmonious long weekend, then we have the thing for you! Tomorrow, M&S are launching a chocolate flavoured bun, filled with an oozing white chocolate 'dippy egg' centre. Move aside Cadbury Creme Eggs, this is the new treat in town.
As a food team, we've tasted a lot of hot cross buns in our time, and we thought these were a refreshing new addition to the baked good game. The moist milk chocolate bun is filled with a custardy white chocolate centre that oozes when you bite into it. And, whilst they sound overly sweet, we thought they were very well balanced - dangerously meaning you could go for another, and another!
"I'd choose these over a traditional hot cross bun any day - in fact, I want another one, right now", says our Senior Recipe Writer, Grace. They are most definitely a hit amongst the GH foodie experts.
The newest addition to the M&S range has divided opinion in the office, some saying they were far too sickly; others saying it's the perfect substitute to the OG hot cross bun. But, which team are you on, trad or trendy?
Get your hands on them in an M&S near you from the 26th March.
