Royal Mail sent a record number of parcels last Christmas and the number looks likely to be rise further this year. If you're planning on sending parcels and cards to loved ones this festive season, here are the dates you need to know.
The sooner you buy, wrap and send your gifts, the sooner you can put your feet up with a mug of mulled wine and a mince pie. Reduce your stress now by getting your presents sent out in time for the big day.

- 2nd Class - last recommended date Wednesday 18 December.
- 2nd Class Signed For - last recommended date Wednesday 18 December.
- 1st Class - last recommended postage date Friday 20 December.
- 1st Class Signed For - last recommended postage date Friday 20 December.
- Tracked 24 - last recommended postage date Saturday 21 December.
- Special Delivery Guaranteed - last recommended postage date Monday 23 December.
GHI Tip: The Post Office and stationery stores, such as WH Smith, Paperchase and Ryman, aren't the only places you can buy stamps. You can add stamps to your online supermarket shop, or print stamps at home. Use the Royal Mail's Click and Drop service to do this and post items in any mailbox. Just make sure your get the scales out to check the weight of the item you're sending first.
