With small appliances such as the best kettles and best toasters that sit on your countertop, their design can have a big impact on the overall look of your kitchen. Whether you want a set from the same brand or just appliances that match colour-wise, it all comes down to personal preference.

Even if matchy-matchy appliances aren’t a priority for you, they’re still worth considering because many brands offer products at a cheaper price if you buy them in a bundle.

Either way, we thought it would be helpful to highlight the best sets we’ve tested at the Good Housekeeping Institute – below, you’ll find our top-rated kettle and toaster sets, including four-slice toaster designs and some great budget options from our best cheap kettles and best cheap toasters roundups.

How we test kettles and toasters at the Good Housekeeping Institute

best kettle and toaster sets

Finding the best kettles for making the perfect cuppa involves a lot more than simply boiling the kettle and sipping tea all day. We assess pouring precision by filling a hot water bottle, how quickly and efficiently it boils different volumes of water, and consider ease of use and cleaning, safety measures, quality of instructions and design.

Our toaster tests are just as rigorous. We start by checking whether the slots can accommodate thick farmhouse slices as well as bagels, before evaluating the consistency of the browning for each slot, using the BSI shade gauge. We also score them on speed, safety and any additional features like ‘keep warm’ settings.

These are the kettle and toaster sets that performed the best.

ProCook Stainless Steel Kettle and Toaster Set

Stainless Steel Kettle and Toaster Set

Pros

  • Kettle is one of the quickest models we’ve tested at full capacity
  • Toaster has a high-lift function for getting your toast out easily

Cons

  • No bagel setting

Kettle – Score: 94/100
Toaster – Score: 92/100

This matching stainless-steel kettle and toaster from ProCook claimed the top spot in both our kettle and our toaster tests, making them a real stand-out buy. The kettle has a 360-degree swivel base and ergonomically designed handle so pouring a cuppa is effortless. Plus, at its full 1.5-litre capacity, it only takes three minutes to boil – making it ideal for dinnertime too.

The matching toaster is a two-slice model that achieves consistently browned toast every time. Adjustable slots make it great for chunky farmhouse bread, too.

Haier Black I-Master Series 5 Toaster & Kettle

UK Approved(Esquire,Red,HB,GH,Country Living,Prima)
Black I-Master Series 5 Toaster & Kettle

Pros

  • Kettle has a specific setting for boiling just one cup
  • Impressed when toasting all types of bread

Cons

  • The kettle’s volume markings are tricky to see on the inside of the handle
  • Frozen bread took longer to toast than with other models

Kettle – Score: 89/100
Toaster – Score: 92/100

The sleek, compact design of these appliances makes them perfect for a modern kitchen. The two-slice toaster achieved the joint best score in our lab test and impressed with its range of functions including the ‘lift and look’ feature that lets you check on your bread mid-toasting. Plus, there’s a memory function so once you’ve found that perfect setting, you’ll never lose it again.

While the kettle didn’t score as highly, it’s still a great investment – particularly for smaller households who only boil one cup at a time, as it only took 45 seconds. It also has a ‘keep warm’ function and variable temperature control.

There’s no denying that the set is expensive, but with all the extra features on board, it’s worthwhile investing if your budget can stretch.

Salter COMBO-8824 Kuro Set

UK Approved(Esquire,Red,HB,GH,Country Living,Prima)
COMBO-8824 Kuro Set
Now 11% Off

Pros

  • Minimal dirt traps on the toaster
  • Both were easy to use

Cons

  • Toaster walls took a while to cool down after use
  • Kettle isn’t well suited for small households

Kettle – Score: 87/100
Toaster – Score: 91/100

Compact, but with a decent 1.7L capacity, Salter’s kettle is a good option if you don’t have much counter space. It’s packed full of fantastic features like a boil-dry sensor and an auto shut-off function, but it has a minimum capacity of 600ml, so it’s not the best pick for small households.

A four-slice toaster completes the matching set, and has adjustable slot sizes and a bagel setting, making it a real crowd pleaser come breakfast time. In our tests, it scored highly for evenly browned slices and intuitive controls.

Salter COMBO-8823 Marino Kettle and Toaster Set

UK Approved(Esquire,Red,HB,GH,Country Living,Prima)
COMBO-8823 Marino Kettle and Toaster Set

Pros

  • There’s a removable limescale filter in the kettle
  • The anti-jamming function in the toaster was handy

Cons

  • The kettle was tricky to fill through the spout
  • Toaster doesn’t have a bagel setting

Kettle – Score: 87/100
Toaster – Score: 89/100

This is another great combo from Salter that will make family breakfast times a breeze. The four-slice toaster produced evenly browned farmhouse slices, bagels and crumpets with ease, though at a slightly slower rate than others we’ve tried.

The kettle was speedy though, taking under three-and-a-half minutes to boil its maximum capacity of 1.7 litres. Our main niggle was that its exterior got quite hot when boiling, so be careful when picking it up to pour.

ZWILLING Enfinigy Kettle and Toaster Set

UK Approved(Esquire,Red,HB,GH,Country Living,Prima)
Enfinigy Kettle and Toaster Set

Pros

  • Kettle has no exposed heating element, which made cleaning simple
  • Toaster was brilliant at defrosting bread

Cons

  • Expensive
  • Bagel setting wasn’t very effective

Kettle – Score: 85/100
Toaster – Score: 82/100

Zwilling’s kettle has a great capacity range so you can easily brew a single cup or serve an entire household for afternoon tea. It took an average of four minutes and 40 seconds to boil its full capacity though, and it was quite heavy to carry – however, the ergonomic handle helped with pouring.

The matching two-slice toaster wasn’t overly consistent when batch toasting but delivered an excellent single slice with even browning. Testers also liked the soft-lift function that stops the toast jumping out when it pops up.

The verdict on the best kettle and toaster set

Claiming the title of (joint) best kettle and best toaster, it’s a no brainer that we recommend ProCook’s Stainless Steel Set if you’re investing in matching appliances.

If you’re looking for a cheaper alternative though, Salter’s Combo Kuro Set is an excellent pick that still put in a competitive performance in the lab.
