MagSafe is the best feature of your iPhone that you're probably not using. It may be a mere ring of magnets on the back of your smartphone, but once you've started snapping various accessories to your handset, you'll quickly see how helpful it is. Recharging without a cable? Popping on a ring holder for easy grip? Quickly attaching to a phone stand or tripod? All this and more is possible.

The best MagSafe accessories are designed to help you make the most of your iPhone experience. So, if you're the proud owner of one of the best iPhones (MagSafe is present on everything newer than the iPhone 12... except the iPhone 16e), you're all set to add extra functionality to your phone with gadgets and add-ons you’ll use all the time, trust us.

Best MagSafe accessories

Modern iPhones all feature the same built-in magnetic system on the back, known as MagSafe. It simplifies charging and allows for seamless and secure attachment of numerous accessories, from cases and wallets to wireless chargers and power banks.

Additionally, since the launch of iOS 17, there's been a "StandBy" mode which lets your phone serve as a smart display when resting on a MagSafe wireless charging stand. We find this super handy to use our phone's screen as a clock from across the room.

Below, we've rounded up some of our favourite MagSafe accessories. We're confident they'll quickly become everyday essentials, whether you've just upgraded to the latest iPhone or are using a previous model (as long as it's the 12 or newer!).

Best MagSafe charger for most people

Anker MagGo Magnetic Wireless Charger Pad, Qi2

MagGo Magnetic Wireless Charger Pad, Qi2

Like the form factor of the Apple MagSafe charger, but prefer a lower price and don't need the absolute fastest speeds? This Anker alternative is a great, affordable option for refuelling your phone reliably with a magnetic attachment.

It's Qi2-certified, so it will deliver a speedy 15W of charging (much better than the limit of 7.5W on non-Qi2 options), but it can't get quite as fast as the official Apple pick.

Best MagSafe charger for simplicity

Apple MagSafe Charger (1m)

MagSafe Charger (1m)

This is the default MagSafe charger for a good reason: It's a tiny little puck that gives you the fastest possible wireless recharging speeds for your iPhone and is much better than third-party options because the speed isn't limited to 7.5W.

In fact, it gets even faster than the already speedy Qi2 speeds (up to 15W) by going up to 25W of power when charging an iPhone 16 or 16 Pro. That's alongside its Qi and Qi2 support, which makes this a very versatile option.

It comes in two lengths (1m or 2m) and the cable plugs into a USB-C wall plug (not included). Also, the way that the MagSafe disc attaches at the back of your iPhone makes it much more convenient to use your phone while it's charging.

Best small MagSafe power bank

Belkin BoostCharge 5K + Stand

BoostCharge 5K + Stand

Just need a slim and compact power bank to snap onto the back of your iPhone to save you from a dead battery at the end of a long day? We've all been there, and we'd recommend this smart little Belkin charger for exactly that.

It has a foldable stand, and it offers a reliable magnetic connection to your phone and a reasonable 5,000mAh capacity that should get you almost a full recharge of most iPhones.

We've tried premium models with faster speeds, like the EcoFlow Rapid Magnetic Power Bank 5000mAh, but we think this one's particularly good value.

Limitless 6.0 Case for iPhone 16 (MagSafe Compatible)

When it comes to protective iPhone cases, Mous has never let us down. The Limitless 6.0 cases come in various materials and designs, with raised corners to keep the screen safe and extra protection around the camera bump.

They've got a reliable built-in ring of MagSafe magnets — meaning you can keep the case on, and it'll still reliably attach to any other magnetic accessories on this list.

If you're on a budget, we think ESR's clear case is a solid option for MagSafe connectivity at a low price. The magnets are strong, and a clear design is ideal if you want to show off the colour of your iPhone.

If you're looking for a ring holder for the back of your phone but don't want to fuss with the sticky adhesive attachment that these typically require, MagSafe is the answer.

Best compact 3-in-1 MagSafe charger

Anker 3-in-1 Cube

3-in-1 Cube

This little cube is a super versatile charger, folding out to reveal a small pad for your earbuds behind the main MagSafe one for your iPhone. And, yes, that's with the official MagSafe for quick charging speeds.

There's one more thing, too: a smart pop-out Apple Watch charger, also compatible with the fastest possible speeds for newer watch models. In one compact package, you're getting every one of the main chargers an Apple fan requires.

A top 2-in-1 MagSafe charger

Anker PowerWave 2-in-1 Magnetic Stand

PowerWave 2-in-1 Magnetic Stand

Prefer a setup that's sleek and minimal? We'd recommend this Anker stand that raises your iPhone to an ideal height to take advantage of the StandBy mode if you're using it as a desk charger. AirPods almost out of juice, too? This one also has a little pad at the bottom so you can charge those simultaneously.

Best clear MagSafe case for protection

Some of our favourite iPhone cases also come in a clear design, albeit with a thick black border that houses the shock protective material.

It's grippy, the screen edge and camera bump protection are just as reliable, and the magnets built into the case keep it secure when attached to any mount or power bank. It's an excellent pick for showing off your phone and keeping it protected.

Best MagSafe wallet

Phone FineWoven Wallet with MagSafe

MagSafe wallets are designed to help you hold onto a couple of essential cards at all times, but unless you travel very light, they tend not to be large enough to function as a full-on wallet replacement.

One thing we appreciate about the official Apple version, though, is that it's compatible with "Find My" (just like an AirTag), so it's easier to locate if misplaced. It holds two cards comfortably, so it should be an ideal companion when you're popping to the shops or the gym.

Belkin Magnetic Wireless Car Charger

While magnetic stands may seem the most useful for your desk or bedside, drivers are bound to be interested in a sturdy stand that attaches to air vents in the car.

This is perfect if you need the phone for navigation, and it comes with the adapter to plug into your car socket, too, so it'll keep your iPhone battery topped up during the journey.

Best MagSafe power bank for features

EcoFlow Rapid Magnetic Power Bank 10000mAh

Rapid Magnetic Power Bank 10000mAh

This versatile power bank is an ideal blend of a proper high-end battery pack and a convenient magnetic charger. It has a beefy 10,000mAh capacity, and you can access quick 30W USB-C power delivery when you hook up your phone to the built-in cable.

In practice, we found this means you'll get an iPhone 16 Pro to 50% battery in under 27 minutes. It also has a handy kickstand, a useful display to show the battery percentage, app connectivity, and support for up to 65W input, so it can recharge itself speedily, too!

How fast is iPhone wireless charging?

best spot cleaners

Not all wireless chargers are created equal when it comes to speed, and that's especially true for iPhones. Apple reserves the fastest charging for its official MagSafe gear, but third-party brands also get access to these faster speeds. It can get complex, so here's how we’d break it down.

Standard wireless charging (up to 7.5W)

Most older iPhones, from the iPhone 8 to the iPhone 16e, support "Qi" wireless charging at speeds up to 7.5 watts. This is a relatively slow charging speed compared to wired charging, but it's convenient for overnight charging or when you're not in a hurry.

Even if they're capable of more, newer iPhones will still charge at the slow 7.5W on most wireless chargers unless they're MagSafe ones officially certified by Apple, or Qi2 chargers (more on those below).

MagSafe charging (up to 15W)

MagSafe chargers use magnets to ensure precise alignment and can deliver charging speeds up to 15 watts. This can get confusing because there are magnetic chargers on the market that help with the correct alignment, but don't deliver those faster speeds. This applies to most third-party models.

What about Qi2?

Where it gets a little more complex is with the introduction of Qi2, a relatively recent advancement of the wireless charging standard. A certified Qi2 charger can also deliver the same 15W speeds, making it just as good as official MagSafe for most iPhones. However, iPhone 16 and 16 Pro models access 25W speeds, but only with Apple's own MagSafe puck.

The bottom line

If you want speedier charging, you'll need to keep an eye on models with the "Made for MagSafe" logo on listings, or products with official support for the Qi2 standard. Anker, Belkin and Twelve South all make official MagSafe chargers, although it's rarer to find this power in a portable charger.
