The best blushers for your skin type and tone, tried and tested by the GHI
We asked a panel of 100 testers to give us their honest thoughts

The best blushers are those that replicate a healthy glow, give a flush of colour that complements your skin tone, and are easy to blend without any patchiness.
With blush very much back on trend (2024 is all about the glazed, dewy look), the number of options on the market has multiplied in recent years – from cute corals that work perfectly with a tan, to hot pinks that pop on dark skin and create an English rose effect.
Some of us may steer clear of blush, worrying that it will give us a red, flushed look – a particular concern for those with rosacea or sensitive skin who have enough trouble trying to work with their colour flushes. However, a little blush can bring an otherwise tired complexion to life and add a healthy glow, so we recommend getting on board.
To help you find the best for your skin type and tone – guaranteed to perk up your complexion – the Good Housekeeping Institute put a range of market-leaders to the test. Some of these are just starting to make waves, while others are industry icons – one product in our list below was launched in 1863!
If you’re in a hurry to add a little flush to your cheeks, here are our top picks at a glance but read on for our full reviews.
How to apply blusher
From the known and loved “smile in the mirror and tap on the apples of your cheekbones” trick to the ‘W’ method (cheekbones and all the way across the bridge of the nose), the ultimate aim is to focus on those areas that naturally flush when you’re embarrassed or have been doing exercise (or both), or where the sun would typically kiss your skin.
How we test blushers
We asked 100 of our at-home testers to trial a range of market-leading products for a minimum of two weeks, before giving feedback on their overall experience with each blusher.
They assessed the ease of application, blendability, how the product worked with other makeup, how well it sat on their skin, lasting power, and the pigment pay-off.
So, which of these luminosity-boosting blushers did our panel love? Here’s the lowdown.
