This blush from Selena Gomez’s beauty brand proved a star performer, giving every single tester a perfectly natural flush of colour that lasted all day. It’s available in matte and dewy finishes across 13 shades, so there’s something for everyone in the range.

The stylish design made it even more of a joy to use, and just a few dots across the cheek and nose can be blended easily with your chosen tool (fingers included!). Every single tester said blending it was a dream, which meant they could build their desired colour, depending on the look they were going for that day.

It was comfortable on skin, didn’t feel greasy and testers though the packaging was luxury and premium. It’s one of our highest-ever scoring makeup products at the GHI. Bravo Selena.

This is a truly iconic product – particularly the famous Orgasm shade – and one that left every tester flushed with success. Panellists loved the beautifully pigmented powder, saying “a little goes a long way”, and appreciated the healthy, long-lasting pop of colour which won multiple compliments.

“It’s very pigmented yet easy to use and the size is great for travel,” said one tester. “My face didn’t feel greasy, it goes well with my makeup, and I really liked how cute the packaging was! It felt like the product would last for a year or so as you only need a tiny bit, which packs a big blush punch.” Need we say more?

Merit never misses when it comes to multi-tasking makeup products that look natural on skin. The brand knows how to design formulations that feel good on the face and look deliciously dewy, while creating enough of a difference to make you feel done up.

Celebrity fans include Hailey Bieber, Zooey Deschanel and Sarah Jessica Parker, and our panellists also loved it, praising its blendability and the “beautiful balmy formula”. One praised it for “sitting nicely on top of makeup and gliding seamlessly onto the cheeks.”

Although the brand doesn’t claim this is a lip to cheek product, the GH beauty team recommends using it on the lips as well to tie any makeup look together with minimal effort.

Trinny Woodall may have made a name for herself styling the women of the noughties, but her high-energy fashion know-how has translated nicely into beauty and with Trinny London’s makeup range, she’s delivered a range of formulations that have wowed even the biggest sceptics.

The brand tells us to “forget clown cheeks – this is your post-Pilates glow”, and that chimes with the feedback we received. Testers told us it was great for a natural flushed look and they loved the blendable, natural level of pigment, which meant it was almost impossible to overdo it.

“It layered well with other makeup and lasted throughout the day,” said one tester, while others praised the “dreamy creamy consistency.” Many used it on their lips like the Merit balm, too, and the packaging is designed for stacking together with other Trinny products to make them perfect for travel.

This is probably a nostalgic product for many, with Bourjois claiming women have had “a crush on this blush since 1863”– that’s longer than the Good Housekeeping Institute has been around and it’s still making our final shortlist.

Testers loved the packaging and the shimmery pigment, with one highlighting “the colour and shape of the brush as it made for such easy on-the-go application.” They told us it was compact, so it fits perfectly into makeup bags, but some were slightly put off by the “overpowering” rose scent.

Available in twelve shimmery shades, it will add a light-reflecting lick of soft-focus colour for any skin tone, with a nourishing formulation that works well for those with dry or combination skin. The brand talks about it as a “secret to no-makeup makeup”, so expect a natural finish that still makes you feel good.
