It’s that time of year again, as the first Monday in May brings us our annual feast of A-list fashion from the Met Gala, which takes place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. This year, the theme tied in with a brand-new exhibit, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, with the dress code being ‘Tailored for you’.
While everyone was excited to see how the celebrity guests interpreted the brief with their most fashion-forward looks, it was one star’s bold new hair style that stole the show for us. Pamela Anderson arrived at the Met Gala having taken the chop to her trademark long blonde locks in favour of a bold, boxy bob.
Pamela’s new look features a blunt fringe and chin-length cut, which she wore with natural texture and flicked ends. While her new ’do made waves, her outfit was just as impressive as she walked the red carpet in a floor-length, long-sleeve dress embellished with sparkling diamantés and crystals. The hour-glass silhouette dress had a Cinderella feel and was created by Tory Burch.
While Pamela was known for her iconic voluminous blonde hair and bold smokey eye looks following her Baywatch days, the star made headlines when she decided to attend the Cannes Film Festival in 2023 without wearing any make up at all. At this year’s Met Gala, she kept her glam natural, with a sweep of bronzer and a soft, peachy lip.
And it wasn’t just Pamela’s glamorous look that stole our attention at the event, but also her choice of date. This year, she walked the red carpet arm in arm with her son, Brandon Thomas Lee, who looked dapper in a smart tuxedo by Genuardi.
As well as enjoying public events together, the duo also collaborated professionally on Gia Coppella’s The Last Showgirl. Pamela starred in the film while Brandon was credited as a producer. It’s clear the pair have a strong bond as, when discussing the shared film project with Variety, Brandon said, ‘My personal mission was to give my mom the opportunities she gave me as a child. She would do anything for me. She showed up and was a very good mother.’
Other standout moments of the night included an appearance from Rihanna, who publicly debuted her baby bump for the first time, and Diana Ross, who attended the event for the first time in 20 years.
