The 13 best winter duvets for keeping the chill away, tried and tested
Fluffy and warm, these are the GHI’s top buys

When the weather turns colder, you want bedding that will keep you toasty at night.
Before turning to an electric blanket, look at the duvet you’re currently using. If it’s designed for summer use – with a lower tog rating (anything around 4.5 tog) – you may want to swap it for something a little snugger. A winter duvet with a higher tog (12.5 and above) will lock in more warmth, so you can stay cosy all night long. A duvet with a tog around 10.5 is a good in-between option.
But which ones are worth investing in? The Good Housekeeping Institute recruited more than 300 testers to try out a new duvet for two weeks to find the cosiest, warmest and quietest buys for a blissful night’s sleep.
Here are their favourites at a glance but read on for our detailed reviews.
How we test winter duvets
Each duvet was tested by four different people over a two-week period. They reported back on everything from how well it regulated their temperature during the night to whether it was noisy and how comfortable it was to sleep with.
Back at the GHI, our homes testers carried out a series of tests, inspecting each duvet’s quality and checking the measurements against the brand’s claims.
Our experts also followed the recommended wash and dry cycles to see how they fared, checking for any changes in the duvet’s appearance, size, quality or filling after cleaning.
Below, you’ll find our winning winter duvets, and a guide to all things tog, filling and caring for your new purchase.
