We've tested 74 duvets and these are the best for every budget
It’s tiring work testing all those duvets, but these are the picks we’re still dreaming about

While it might not be the same level of investment as the best mattress, your duvet can have a huge impact on your quality of sleep. You want one that’s cosy, but not too hot; one that’s light so you don't feel claustrophobic, but heavy enough to feel snug; and one that's easy to clean and durable, so you don't have to replace it too soon...And that’s all before you get into the best materials and fibres.
A lot of this does come down to your own personal sleep preferences, but with so many on the market, the Good Housekeeping Institute is here to lend a helping hand in your hunt for the best duvet for your bedroom set-up. In fact, we’ve tested 74 duvets over the years, so we’re pretty sure one of our picks will suit you.
Say goodbye to counting sheep and check out our best duvets below. Then keep scrolling for the full reviews and to find out what you need to consider before buying.

How we test duvets
Testing duvets at the Good Housekeeping Institute is tiring work, but someone has to do it! Each one goes through rigorous testing with our in-house experts and we also send them out to panellists to see how they stand up in real world conditions – sweaty sleepers, fidgeting partners and all.
In the lab, every duvet is meticulously inspected to assess quality, with our experts keeping an eye out for any flaws or standout features. They’re then measured and checked to see whether they’re the same size as the brands claim. Then it's time to get washing. We put each duvet through the brand’s recommended wash and dry cycles before inspecting them again for any changes to the size, filling or appearance.
Meanwhile, we ask our panel of sleeping beauties to try each duvet and give us detailed feedback after a few weeks, telling us how well they slept and what it was like to cosy up with.
Finally, our experts collate all this information to award each duvet a score.
All sizes shown are for a UK double, unless specified.
