He’s the king of plot twists, but Harlan Coben’s latest Netflix adaptation has to be his most puzzling story yet. I Will Find You is the latest thriller novel to get the TV treatment and it's a mystery that will keep you guessing right until the very end.
The new series will follow the plot of his 2023 book, which tells the story of a man serving time in prison for the murder of his son. Except, he didn't murder his son at all. And his son, it seems, may well still be alive.
With a brilliant cast attached and another genius storyline at the heart of it, we’re counting down the days until the show's arrival. But until then, here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming series…
What is I Will Find You about?
The eight-part series is an adaptation of Coben’s 2023 novel of the same name and follows father David Burroughs (Sam Worthington), who’s serving a life sentence for murdering his son – only he’s actually innocent. And when he receives word that his son might actually be alive, he embarks on a truth-finding mission that sees him break out of prison and enter a world of deceit and despair.
We’ll meet five key characters caught up in the mystery, including we’ll also meet Rachel Mills (Britt Lower) David’s ex-sister-in-law and a former decorated reporter whose life fell apart when she was fired. However, when she discovers evidence of “an incredible secret”, Rachel views it as a once-in-a-lifetime story that could be her ticket back to journalism.
While Netflix has gifted us with our fair share of Coben adaptations, from Missing You to Fool Me Once and Stay Close, I Will Find You is the first series in Coben’s partnership with the streamer to be set in the US. Once again, co-creator Coben will serve as executive producer and he’s called the cast “a dream team of talent”.
Who's starring in I Will Find You?
The cast of I Will Find You includes:
- Sam Worthington (Avatar, Lift) as David Burroughs
- Britt Lower (Severance, Man Seeking Woman) as Rachel Mills
- Milo Ventimiglia (This Is Us, Gilmore Girls) as Hayden, Rachel’s ex-boyfriend
- Logan Browning (Dear White People, The Perfection) as Sarah Greer
- Erin Richards (The Crown, Gotham) as Cheryl Dreason
Is Harlan Coben's book, I Will Find You, any good?
As we’ve come to expect from Coben, I Will Find You is a brilliantly compelling read. It’s perfectly plotted, with perhaps more twists and turns than any of the author's previous books. The ultimate guessing game is probably a fair description. When the book was released in 2023, it was extremely well-received, with critics calling it “one of his best yet”, "totally puzzling" and “typically clever”.
How can I watch I Will Find You?
Netflix hasn't yet shared a release date for I Will Find You, but we're hoping it will arrive at some point this year. As soon as we have a confirmed date, we'll share it here. In the meantime, you can catch up on Netflix's latest Harlan Coben adaptation, Caught, here.
