Oh, what’s occurring? Well, we’ll tell you. Last night, Ruth Jones graced the carpet of the BAFTAs and won the award for Best Female Performance in a Comedy for none other than Gavin & Stacey. While her emotional speech had us fighting back tears, there was something else that stirred up nostalgic feelings…Ruth seemed to be channelling Nessa’s iconic raven-black locks.

Yes, that’s right. While the hairstyle itself bears little resemblance to Nessa’s chin-length bob and bangs, it seems Ruth may have taken some inspiration from her own character and dyed her hair a shade a gorgeous, rich, almost-black shade.

Ruth looked gorgeous while showing off her well-deserved BAFTA

Her dark, shiny hair was styled in a tousled yet incredibly chic bun, with strands cascading around her face to create an effortlessly glamorous look. (Again, not very Nessa!) We’d argue that this is the perfect up-do, and we’ll definitely be trying it out for wedding season.

Ruth’s hair wasn’t the only thing that caught our attention: her makeup looked flawless too. Her glowing skin, gold eyeshadow and smoked-out lash line was the perfect combination for a soft-glam look. It all came together when paired with a gorgeous, blue puff-sleeve Rosa Clara gown which made her eyes pop.

Fans shared their love for Ruth’s red carpet look on her stylist’s, Stevie B Shindler, Instagram post. One commented: ‘Incredible. She’s never looked better! 🙌’, while another said ‘Oh wow!!!!!! Absolutely stunning!!!!! 💙’ – and we certainly have to agree.

And in case you missed it, Ruth wasn’t the only star with a beauty transformation at the BAFTAs last night. Presenter Alex Jones took us all by surprise by switching out her usual lob for long flowing, boho-inspired locks. Former Saturdays singer Frankie Bridge made a bold move with an Audrey Hepburn-esque micro fringe. While Claudia Winkleman re-invented her iconic eyeliner disaster with a tongue-in-cheek beauty statement. What a night!
