We’ve seen some outstanding candidates on the Cannes red carpet, and there are still a few days to go, but we think we can call it – Amal Clooney has the best hair at this year’s Film Festival: official. Take a look and tell us we’re wrong.
For starters, the precision work with the hairdryer nozzle deserves an award in itself. Amal’s hairstylist and makeup artist, Dimitris Giannetos, proudly calls his work ‘The French Riviera blowout’, which perfectly sums up the lush, plush, glossy curtain he’s created. Probably the only thing more expensive in Cannes right now is the minibar at the Hôtel Martinez.

The sleek finish hasn’t come at the expense of volume either. Amal’s hair is bouncy at the roots and plumped out magnificently at the ends, thanks to some nifty work with a curling tong. The colour, too, is equally luxurious, with golden tones spun through her rich chocolate base colour.
Her hair even smells expensive, with Dimitris revealing that he used Parfums de Marly Delina Hair Perfume – £67 a can – to scent her swoosh with notes of Turkish rose, lily of the valley and peony.
As we say, the hair game has been strong this year at Cannes. Andie MacDowell wore a faux-crop to complement her sharp tailoring, Nicole Kidman glowed with her sunset blonde sleekness and Eva Longoria got a blow-dry almost as impressive as Amal’s – also created by Dimitrius, who must have a seriously aching arm by this point in the festival.
However, we think Amal just nudges it with her glorious mane, and we’re awarding extra points for her immaculate red carpet makeup, also courtesy of the multitalented Dimitrius.
Further glamour comes courtesy of the Charlotte Tilbury makeup, which Dimitrius used to create Amal’s smokey eye and full, glossy nude lip. The darker outline plus dramatically plumped pout leads us to suspect that her lips are the work of Charlotte’s new Super Nudes liner and Plumpgasm gloss. The duo is being dubbed ‘Shapewear for lips’ and it has the GH seal of approval already. (Read our full review here.)
